In preparation for next season, Kenyan Premier League side Muhoroni Youth has lined up a talent search  tournament on December 30 and 31 in Muhoroni town.

According to Muhoroni Youth Chairman Moses Adagala, 12 teams drawn from Ainamoi, Kericho, Kipkelion, and Muhoroni will take part in the two-day tournament.

The teams include Koru United, Green Commandos, Tonde FC, Koguta, Kapsitet, Kapsoit FC, Tamu, God Abuoro, Makindu, Chemelil Youth, Mtwala and Muhoroni Boda Boda FC.

“We have organised a talent search from where we hope to sign five players to bolster our squad ahead on next Kenyan Premier League season,” said Adagala on Friday.

At the same time, Adagala said they will be using the tournament, which will be graced by Officer Commanding Police Divisions from Muhoronu, Kipkelion, and Kericho, alongside local politicians, to foster peaceful coexistence among the youth during  campaigns for the March 4 General Election.

Meanwhile, Adagala said Muhoroni Youth will not renew the contract of eight of their players.

“It is unfortunate that eight of our players whose contracts end by  December 31 will not have their  contracts renewed,” Adagala told FeverPitch.

Adagala said the winners of the talent search tournament will take home balls, trophies and certificates. Youth, who joined KPL this season, escaped relegation by a whisker.
