Karuturi Sports send 10 players packing

Failure to win the Kenyan Premier League title and finish among the Top Eight has prompted Karuturi Sports to sack 10 players.
Club vice chairman Stephen Masaku confirmed the players were fired due to poor form which resulted in a bad performance by the club.
“We are now looking for various ways to scout and sign up new players for the team ahead of the 2013 league,” said Masaku.
Among the notable players who have been dropped are Alfred Chole and Peter Juma. Other players who have been fired are former AFC Leopards and Sony Sugar attacking midfielder Jack”Kadwaro” Omondi, Kevin Omondi, Allan Omondi, Mustapha Ogutu, Yusuf Siruma, Jeff Odongo and former Gor Mahia duo Steve Biko and Nathan Munai.

Munai, a former Gor defender, failed to play for the club for virtually the entire year. Masaku said they had to do away with the players as the technical bench felt they won’t help much next season.
“Furthermore, it will help the club save on unnecessary expenses like medical and salary when the team is whittled down. We conducted our evaluation of players as part of our restructuring and came up with the decision, which we hope will bring good results next season,” said Masaku.
Some of the players spent most part of the season on the bench while others didn’t serve the club well after injuries.
Karuturi Sports head coach Mike Nam has remained silent concerning yesterday’s sacking.
Masaku thanked the sacked players for their immense service to the club and wished them bright future as they look for greener pastures elsewhere.
The sacking have not come at a wrong time. KPL players are now foraging for new clubs to sign up for next season.
Karuturi Sports finished 12th with 32 points in the just ended KPL which was won by Tusker FC.
Last month, another KPL side Sofapaka fired over six players in what the previous coach Stewart Hall termed as incompetence.
Those affected included Cameroonian born Goalkeeper Pascal Penda, Collins ‘Gatusso” Okoth, Hashim Mukhwana, Demonde Selenga, Hakim Sekumba, and Kanamuli Severin.
