Kakamega Homeboyz are through to the quarterfinals of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup after knocking out defending champions 1-0 in a round of 16 match played at the Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday.

Moses Mudavadi's deflected goal in the 57th minute was enough for Homeboyz who sent the current FKF Premier League leaders packing in front of their fans.

Despite having league top scorer Benson Omalla (19 goals) and new signing Patrick Kaddu from Uganda on their ranks, K'Ogalo failed to find the back of the net as Farouk Shikalo stood tall at goal for Homeboyz.

The result sees Homeboyz join Ulinzi Stars, Tusker FC, Sofapaka and Kariobangi Sharks as the teams to have already made it through to the last eight of the tournament.

With the win, Kakamega Homeboyz have booked a date with Kariobangi Sharks in the quarterfinals.

This is after Sharks defeated FKF Division One side Equity FC by a solitary goal at Nyayo Stadium.

Paul Odhiambo scored in the 10th minuts to send Sharks through to the next stage.

On Saturday, Tusker came from 2-0 down at half time to edge out Rainbow 3-2 as Ulinzi Stars defeated Kenya Police 2-1 to emerge top in the Police Derby.
