Gor Mahia face struggling Wazito as defending champions Tusker seek to rob KCB

Record Kenyan champions will be hoping the two-weeks break has rejuvenated the team back into form as they travel to play struggling Wazito in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League set to be played at Narok Stadium on Saturday.
The former champions have found the going tough in the 2021-2022 season after registering mixed results. Despite being joint third with Nairobi City Stars on 38 points, their results have been very irregular and inconsistent.
However, Gor will be hoping to ease past Wazito who are struggling to win matches.
Wazito are in a three-game losing streak which has left them in the relegation zone, 16th with 20 points.
At the same time, defending champions Tusker host last season runners-up KCB at Ruaraka Grounds. The two teams played out to a barren draw at MISC Kasarani Annex before the league took a break.

Dropping points against KCB, who are fifth on 37 points, will be a big blow to Tusker in their quest to defend the title.
The clash is expected to be tight just as the previous ones. In fact, neither Tusker nor KCB have bagged a win in the past four meetings which have ended in draws.
Tusker FC midfielder Humphrey Mieno says the two-week international break has helped the players rejuvenate and recover well, saying they are now better focused heading to the home stretch of the FKF Premier League season.
Tusker broke for the international break placed second in the standings, eight points behind leaders Kakamega Homeboyz.
“It was very important for us. We needed the rest because we were a bit fatigued due to the congested fixtures but now we are rejuvenated, we have the strength back and we are ready to go for the next task,” Mieno said, as quoted by the club’s website.
Looking back at the match against KCB he says; “It was a very tough match with few chances because KCB is a really good side and have improved over the years. The players were dejected at the final whistle because currently we are holding ourselves in high regard and we wanted all three points. But we take the point and move forward,” he noted.
On the next fixture against the bankers at home and the remaining 11 matches of the season, Mieno says;
“There are some things we learnt from playing in the first leg and we need to improve and do better at home. We have worked on them and raring to go,”
“The most important thing for us now is to stay focused and win all our matches then we see where we end up when the season closes,” he added.
