The Former Vihiga Queens head coach was on Monday appointed the new head coach of the Kenya national women's football team.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee chairman, Justice (Rtd) Aaron Ringera announced the new changes after a thorough interview process conducted last week.

Alumira will be assisted by Benter Achieng and Ann Aluoch, while Martha Karimi will be the team manager.

“It is a great honor and I look forward to guiding this team to the best of my ability, and with the full support of the FKF CC, we shall guide this team to AWCON qualification,” said Alumira. 

Ringera confirmed Alumira’s contract runs until the end of the mandate of the ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/sports/football/2001429065/ringera-led-team-has-its-work-cut-out-putting-fkf-house-in-order">FKF Caretaker Committee<.

Meanwhile, Harambee Starlets will be entering camp on Tuesday ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations match against rivals Uganda.

Starlets are on course to qualify for the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations.

The national women’s football team will renew their rivalry with neighbours Uganda's Crested Cranes when they clash in the second round of the 2022 AWCON qualifiers

Kenya advanced to the second round after hammering South Sudan 15-1 on aggregate over last weekend.

On the other hand, Uganda sailed through after beating Ethiopia 2-1 on post-match penalties after the two teams tied 2-2 on aggregate at the end of the second leg played at Bahir Dar International Stadium in Ethiopia on Tuesday.

Kenya will host the first leg of the contest which is scheduled for February 14 before travelling across the border on February 23 to play Uganda next year.
