Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia on Sunday defeated newbies FC Talanta 2-0 in a FKF Premier League match played at Kasarani Stadium.

Austin Odhiambo scored a second half brace to inspire the former champions to their seventh win of the 2021-2022 campaign.

The win moved K’Ogalo to third in the standings above KCB on 25 points, six points behind league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz but with a game in hand. Homeboyz defeated KCB 3-2.

Gor were not convincing in the first half but two second half goals marked with an improved performance saw Mark Harrison lead his side to maximum points upon his return.

The English tactician has been away during the New Year festive season but is now back in charge.

Speaking after the match, Harrison said the league is still open and he is happy with the progress of the team despite their recent struggles.

“We are only six points behind the league leaders Homeboyz and with a game in hand. If we win that match, game on. I believe we still have a lot to do and the league is still open,” he said.
