NSL: Kisumu Hot Stars, Soy United and Nairobi Stima relegated from Super League

National Super League newcomers Kisumu Hot Stars have been relegated to the FKF Division One League after only one year in the second-tier league.

The lakeside-based club was relegated by the federation two months ago on grounds of failing to honour three consecutive fixtures.

Hot Stars proceeded to petition the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) to suspend the second-tier football league on sporting and health grounds in July.

The Kisumu club argued that they could not compete at that time after the government banned all sports activities in 13 counties in western Kenya, including Kisumu, Kakamega, and Bungoma.

AT the time of relegation, Hot Stars had accumulated 25 points from 19 matches played where they had won seven and lost eight.

Hot Stars who were a top four contender will be joined in the third-tier league by Nairobi Stima and another new side Soy United.

Soy United finished second last in the NSL standings with 28 points after losing 19 matches and drawing in 13 meetings. Soy could only register five wins of the 37 played.

Nairobi Stima finished 17th with 35 points but still dropped.

Meanwhile, Talanta and Vihiga Bullets were promoted to the FKF Premier League after finishing in the top two automatic promotion slots.

Kenya Police finished third and secured a promotion/relegation playoff tie against Vihiga United, who finished 16th in the FKF Premier League.
