Nairobi City Stars on Saturday bounced back to winning ways after edging out struggling Ulinzi Stars 2-0 in a tight match played at ASK Showground in Nakuru.

First-half goals by former Gor Mahia and Zoo striker Nicholas Kipkirui and Bolton Omwenga was enough to hand coach Sanjin Alagic his 10th win of the season.

The win saw Simba wa Nairobi temporarily go fifth in the standings with 36 points, three behind defending champions Gor Mahia who are fourth.

In the match, City Stars need only six minutes to break the deadlock after Kipkirui slots in past an outstretched Timothy Ulinzi goal after a defensive blunder.

Four minutes later, Bolton Omwenga doubled the scores with a long-range free-kick goal.

The goals would however go dry for the rest of the match as Ulinzi poor run continued.

Ulinzi have now conceded nine goals in three matches after losing 4-1 to Tusker and 3-1 to Kakamega Homeboyz inclusive of today’s results.

The loss stretched the servicemen winless run to four matches as they drop 10th in the log with 28 points.
