Kisumu Hot Stars eye top four as Police face a tricky Shabana trip

Kisumu Hot Stars are upbeat of climbing back to the top four when they welcome Kibera Black Stars at Moi Stadium on Saturday as National Super League (NSL) enter week 10.

Hot Stars drew 1-1 with Kenya Police last weekend, a result that saw them drop to eighth in the standings with 14 points, two points adrift the top four teams.

Speaking to Standard Sports, Hot Stars midfielder Reagan Ojwang said they are looking forward to bouncing back against Kibera and move back to the top four.

Ojwang said he believes the team’s chemistry has improved and after going three mat6ches unbeaten they are confident of winning their week 10 match.

“The team has played very well in the past three weeks and I expect another good result tomorrow (Saturday). The boys have been improving week by week and we need to show that by winning against Kibera,” said Ojwang who returned from injury last week.

The Kibera and Hot Stars match among the seven matches set to be played this weekend with other six teams set to take part in the FKF Betway Cup.

In Kisii, second-placed Kenya Police will face an on-form Shabana FC at Gusii Stadium.

Police are the only unbeaten team so far while Shabana are on a six-game unbeaten run under interim coach Joseph Ongoro.

Police sit second on the table with 19 points, same as leaders Talanta while Shabana are fifth with 15 points.

Struggling Mt Kenya United and Mully Children’s Family (MCF) will clash at Camp Toyoyo as Mwatate United FC host Sony Sugar at Wundanyi Stadium.

Modern Coast Rangers will entertain former KPL side Kisumu All-Stars at Serani playground as   Soy United and APS Bomet face off at Bukhungu Stadium.
