FKF top official aims to bring North Eastern to football table

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Executive committee member for North Eastern Ahmedqadar ‘Kador’ Dabar has promised to revive football in the area that has long been marginalised.
The former Motown FC player received the highest number of votes during Saturday’s elections in what he termed a show of great confidence in his ability.
The 26-year-old Dabar gannered 82 votes to defeat his opponent Mohammed Abdi Farah who got just three votes.
“I thank the North Eastern football fraternity for bestowing me with this honour of representing them and more importantly through a popular mandate of voting me in nationally.
“I will return the favour with sound leadership and representation,” he said

He added: “My first agenda is the development of infrastructure through building the capacity of the technical wing of footballing the region.”
He pointed out the importance of helping referees gain knowledge about the rules of the game.
Dabar regretted that North Eastern is endowed with talent, but lack of enough technical skills and manpower which includes referees and coaches has affected the footballing standards in the region.
“Teams from the region cannot compete against others from other areas because they have little knowledge of the rules of the game,” he said.
He said after empowering referees and coaches his next priority will be to train club officials on management.
“Clubs as the main stakeholders will need sound management and that’s why I will endeavour to have officials trained in order to manage their teams professionally,” he said.
He added that he will seek for partnerships with the county governments, Members of Parliament and financiers to improve the playing fields to the required FIFA/FKF standards and equipping teams with playing equipment.
Former National Super League (NSL) side Northern Wanderers were forced to play their matches in Nairobi due to poor pitches in North Eastern.
During his playing days, Kador finished twice as the top scorer in the Garissa provincial league while playing for Motown.
He became the chairman of Motown in 2013.
Under his watch, Motown FC have been crowned as the Garissa county league champions, North Eastern Maisha league winners and national Maisha league semi-finalists among other accolades.
Despite being the chairman of Motown FC, his passion for football has not restricted him into only supporting the club he is leading but has extended support to other teams.
He has been supporting teams from North Eastern participating in national tournaments which include Chapa Dimba and Maisha league.
Even before assuming office at FKF House as a national executive, he had a vision of North Eastern region having a team play in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) something he says he can now pursue even with more vigour.
