Eden Hazard's comments about a Chelsea return hint that fans may see him line up at Stamford Bridge alongside the likes of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech in the not too distant future.

The Blues have already been busy in the transfer market before the window officially opens, with deals agreed for ex-Ajax forward Ziyech and former RB Leipzig ace Werner.

Frank Lampard's side also remain heavily linked with a swoop for Kai Havertz and recently received a boost in their pursuit of the Bayer Leverkusen star.

And there is a chance that Chelsea's forward options could be even further strengthened if Hazard returns to west London from Real Madrid - as he claimed he would like to late last year.

"When I finish here I’ll come back," Hazard told businessman and Chelsea fan Frank Khalid in December 2019.

Asked if he watches the Blues' matches, Hazard responded: "Yeah, when I can I watch. Not all the time.

"They are doing well, they’re young. Now they can pay for players, they can buy players now. I do my job here and then I come back."

Hazard is considered one of Chelsea's greatest players of the 21st century and enjoyed a glittering seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge after joining from Lille in 2012.

The 29-year-old's 110 goals helped the Blues to two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup and two Europa Leagues.

Meanwhile, it has not taken the Belgium international long to win silverware since his £85million move to the Spanish capital last summer.

Though he has struggled for form and fitness throughout the season, Hazard won the La Liga title this week as Barcelona slipped to defeat against Osasuna.

In light of his comments at the end of last year, Chelsea fans will be keeping a close eye on his progress with Los Blancos in anticipation of his future return to Stamford Bridge.
