Alexis Sanchez has been offered a route out of Manchester United with Brazil legend Ronaldo claiming the "door is open" for him at Real Valladolid.

The Chilean has struggled since signing his well publicised mega-money deal at Old Trafford in 2018.

But after a hugely underwhelming 18 months he was shipped out on loan to Inter Milan in an effort to rediscover his best form.

Sanchez has spent large periods of the season out with injury however and could be let go by United once he returns from Italy.

Prior to his move to Manchester the 31-year-old was a star at Arsenal and attracted interest from around Europe.

And Ronaldo has spoken highly of him and would welcome him to Spain.

He said on a Zoom call: "Alexis Sanchez has succeeded wherever he's gone. He has a lot of quality.

"If he doesn't succeed at Inter, Valladolid will open their doors to him."

The World Cup winner supposedly now owns 80 per cent of the club's shares having originally purchased 50 per cent in September 2018.

Valladolid are 15th in La Liga, but look set to play in Spain's top flight once again next term.

The Madrid-based outfit have no history of note and are by no means in a position to challenge domestically.

Sanchez's goal tally hit double figures in each of his three full seasons at the Emirates.

But in the three campaigns since the Chilean has scored just 14 times.

Under Antonio Conte at Inter he has played just 16 times, scoring the once, yet he has been backed by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to prove his doubters wrong.

"Alexis will come back in the summer and prove you all wrong," he said in January.
