Five Bayern Munich players all netted hat-tricks as the German club smashed FC Rottach-Egern 23-0 in a pre-season friendly.

The Bundesliga champions came up against the local side based in the town of Tegernsee in the Bavaria region, where Bayern have been holding a five-day training camp.

Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Corentin Tolisso, Leon Goretzka and Kwasi Okyere Wriedt all grabbed three goals each in the one-sided display.

The thumping defeat came just a year after Rottach-Egern was on the end of a 20-2 loss in the same fixture.

Bayern took the lead after just six minutes when former Swansea loan flop Renato Sanches fired them in front.

Leon Dajaku added another a minute later, before Lewandowski grabbed three goals in 20 minutes, separated by Sanches' second.

Serge Gnabry made it 7-0 shortly after the half-hour mark before Tolisso hit four goals back-to-back to put Bayern 11 ahead at half time.

Bayern boss Niko Kovac wrung the changes at the break, swapping his entire outfield line-up (goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had already been replaced after half hour).

Among the substitutes coming on was debutant Lucas Hernandez, who was making his Bayern bow following his £73 million move from Atletico Madrid.

The German giants started the second period in a similar vein - Muller and Wriedt scoring their first goals each to adding to their teams tally within ten minutes.

Highly-rated newcomer Sarpreet Singh then got on the scoresheet, before Muller netted again and Goretzka nabbed a quickfire brace.

Goretzka then completed his hat-trick after Lard Dietrich had sent the ball past his own keeper and Wriedt had doubled his tally.

Alexander Nollenberger then got in on the act before Wriedt and Muller finished things off in front of a crowd of 2,500.

The hosts Rottach-Ergen were on the receiving end of a similar beating this time last year.

Lewandowski hit a hat-trick that day as well, while Muller also grabbed a brace.

Bayern will stay in the region until Saturday before they head off to prepare for the DFB Cup clash with Energie Cottbus.

No doubt the hosts will be happy to see the back of them.
