Just how costly is it to sack current Harambee Stars head coach Sebastien Migne?

The Frenchman is under fire following Kenya’s exit in the African Nations Championship qualifiers at the hands of neighbours Tanzania on Sunday, August 4.

Harambee Stars were eliminated 4-1 on penalties following a barren draw after 90 minutes. Michael Kibwage and Joash Onyango were guilty of missing spot-kicks, leaving Taifa Stars advance to the second round of the competition.

Responding to questions from journalists after the loss, a defiant Migne insisted he had done his job and that Kenyan fans should not forget the troubles the team has faced to make it to this level.

"Don’t forget where you (Kenya) were; you had never qualified for AFCON in 15 years. It is not even about CHAN; Kenya has never been to the U17 or U20 AFCON and that means Kenya doesn’t have the maturity to contest at the highest level,” said Migne as seen by GameYetu.

The Harambee Stars head coach went on to emphasize on the effort he had put into the team.

“Honestly, I gave my best and I offered the fans an opportunity to dream with the AFCON qualification,” added Migne.

When asked about his future with the team, the Frenchman was quick to point out that he had no desire of resigning and that it would be difficult for the Football Federation to pay out his contract.

“About resigning, you will have to check with my president. I am under contract but it is already difficult to pay my salary and it will be difficult to pay the remainder of my full contract as well if I were to be sacked,” explained Migne.

Migne went on to blame the team’s underperformance on the absence of crucial players who made moves to other clubs.

“Losing all those players and playing against a Tanzanian side which had mostly players who competed at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt was a tall order for us, but we cannot continue to cry, we are out and must focus on the next assignment,” Migne told reporters.
