Young Manchester United defender Max Taylor has received some positive news in his fight against cancer.

Taylor - who recently changed his name from Max Dunne - has responded successfully having undergone chemotherapy.

The United Under-23s player will continue to be monitored closely but a statement released by the club stated that "everybody looks forward to seeing him wear the red shirt again".

Taylor is still in the recovery process and will continue to work with the club's medical department for the "foreseeable future" as he attempts to get back on the pitch.

”I would like to thank everyone at the club that has helped me since day one,” Taylor said.

“The nurses at the Christie and HCA healthcare, plus Melissa from MacMillan Cancer Support, have all provided me with wonderful care.
