Henrikh Mkhitaryan returned to haunt Jose Mourinho as he scored on his return to Old Trafford.

The Armenian endured a frustrating time under the Manchester United boss and joined Arsenal in January, in a deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move in the opposite direction.

Mkhitaryan had been struggling with injuries but was passed fit to start in a much-changed Arsenal line-up.

And he had the perfect response to Mourinho's decision to let him go as he levelled the scores.

Mkhitaryan drove at the United defence and fired a shot through Victor Lindelof's legs and past David De Gea

His celebrations were muted at best as he sympathetically gestured to the home support in an apologetic manner.

But after the way he was treated at United - and how little time he spent there - it all seemed pretty strange.

And many took the opportunity to criticise the Arsenal star for his lack of celebration.
