Philippe Coutinho broke down in tears after learning Liverpool would not sell him to Barcelona.

The Brazil forward had hoped to secure a move to Spain on Friday when the La Liga giants made a £140million bid.

But Liverpool stood firm and insisted the 25-year-old remained at Anfield.

Coutinho scored for Brazil on Thursday night having not featured for his club this season.

And according to reports in Spain , the forward was seen crying as his emotional summer took its toll.

Coutinho had attempted to force the move by telling Liverpool he wanted to play with Lionel Messi and Co.

But the club's owners refused to budge.

Coutinho will feature for Brazil again on Tuesday when they face Colombia and will likely be included in Liverpool's squad for their crunch clash with Manchester City next Saturday.
