West Ham in talks for Hernandez

West Ham are in talks with Javier Hernandez over a £13million move to the London Stadium.

The 29-year-old Bayer Leverkusen striker is a long-term target for the Irons and looks set to begin solving their striker crisis.

Hernandez, who has just a year left on his contract, has a £13million release clause in his contract.

After five years at Manchester United and a spell at Real Madrid he has had two seasons at Leverkusen, scoring 17 league goals in his first and 11 in his second.

Although he has only a year left on his current deal, West Ham want to move quickly to land him after being left frustrated by their lack of progress in landing a new frontman.

Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi, Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Benfica’s Raul Jimenez and Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud are all on West Ham’s shortlist. But all of them have offers from bigger clubs.

The Irons have also had bids rejected for Villareal’s Cedric Bakambu and Cologne striker Anthony Modeste, for whom the German club want as much as £40million.

Slaven Bilic is after two new strikers with West Ham willing to listen to offers for injury-prone Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho.
