Gor’s election case postponed

A case challenging the election of the current Gor Mahia office at the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) has been postponed to March 10.

The postponement was made after lawyer Omondi Omollo representing five petitioners fell sick and failed to turn up at the tribunal.

The five are challenging the exclusion of 1,564 voters from the voting process and are calling that they be allowed to take part.

Geoffrey Obura who is representing Gor Mahia did not object to the postponement. At the same time, SDT chairman John Ohaga said that the deadline for the petitioners to amend their petition lapsed yesterday.

Ohaga said it is now upto the petitioners to negotiate with the respondents on whether they will agree to accept the amended petition past the deadline.

Both parties will be given time to argue their case when the matter comes up next week after which the tribunal will retreat to issue a ruling.

Elsewhere, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed that Harambee Stars will play two international build-up matches this month. The first match will be on March 22 against Uganda Cranes and then four days later against Democratic Republic of Congo.

The two matches will be played at Nyayo Stadium considering that Kasarani is locked for repairs ahead of the under-18 World Athletics Championships.
