TUSKER SEEK EARLY GOALS: Brewers off to Mauritius, Court halts new KPL fixtures

Tusker coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe insists they will go for early goals against AS Port Louis in the return leg of their preliminary round of Caf Champions League on Sunday. The Kenyan champions find themselves in a tough situation after drawing 1-1 in the first leg match last weekend.
Tusker fly out to Mauritius today afternoon, determined to make it to the first round of the tournament.
“It is not a good thing that we drew at home in the first leg. But this has given us the motivation going into the return match.
“Our strategy is to avoid conceding any goal and go for early goals,” he said.
Nsimbe has challenged his players to go into the return fixture with focus and determination.

Tusker will go through even with a 2-2 draw result. The brewers will miss influential striker Dan Kago, who picked an injury during the first leg.
In a related development, Ulinzi Stars coach Benjamin Nyangweso is confident the team can overturn a 1-0 deficit suffered in the first leg of their Confederations Cup match against Libyan side Al Hilal Benghazi.
The return match will be played tomorrow at Kasarani Stadium with the Kenyan side needing to win by two clear goals to qualify.
Elsewhere, three more stadia have been approved to host Kenyan Premier League matches this season.
Kenyan Premier League Stadia Safety and Security Committee has approved Sudi (Bungoma), Kericho Green Stadium and Narok Stadium. According to the KPL, all the three venues were found conditionally fit to stage low or/and medium risk league matches, but require more improvements to become ideal venues for top flight action.
Three fans have obtained a High Court order restraining the Kenyan Premier League (1st respondents) and Football Kenya Federation (2nd respondents) from proceeding with a new season Calendar as directed by the Sports Disputes Tribunal (3rd respondents) on February 10.
In an application dated February 14, Kisumu High Court judge Justice TW Cherere granted Emmanuel Obiero Ochieng, Sperus Gor Okech and Sadat Abdalla Khamisi orders restraining two respondents, KPL, FKF from publishing new fixtures that exclude Muhoroni Youth, Sofapaka, KCB and Vihiga United until the case is heard and determined. It further directs KPL to, “Proceed with the 2017 season fixtures as per Calendar published February 6 pending interparties hearing and determination of this application.”
The petition reads in part that, “a conservatory order be and is hereby granted temporarily staying enforcement of the third limb of the 3rd respondents.”
