Burglars broke into Real Madrid star Raphael Varane’s home after he forgot to put his alarm on before his side’s last Champion’s league group qualifier.

The French defender returned from the game to find £60,000 of jewellery, cash, clothes and household accessories missing.

Raphael Varane forgot to activate his burglar alarm before trip to Germany.

The stolen haul is said to include 12 designer watches worth up to £3,370 each.

Varane, 23, called the police on Wednesday night after discovering the break-in at his home in the upmarket residential area of El Encinar de los Reyes near to where David Beckham used to live.

He reportedly admitted he had forgotten to activate his expensive alarm system in the rush to leave home when detectives reached the crime scene.

Last month burglars stole designer watches and jewellery worth around £425,000 during a raid on the home of former Real Madrid and Barcelona star Luis Figo.
