There are some stories that even take us by surprise, and this is one of them.

Cristiano Ronaldo became embroiled in some huge online beef on Thursday morning, when he uploaded a picture of him and a statue of Buddha onto Instagram and Facebook.

There's nothing wrong with that, you might think, until you notice just where Ronaldo has placed his famous right foot.

Because by placing it upon the statue of the deity worshipped as a father figure of Buddhism, he has caused OUTRAGE amongst the religion's followers.

Now he surely didn't do this on purpose, but people are NOT happy.

He might just have cost himself a few fans.
