Bandari’s new signings were the shining stars after they steered the team to a convincing 2-0 win over Homeboyz.

Bernard Mang’oli, signed from AFC Leopards and former Gor Mahia striker Edwin Lavatsa scored a goal each for the dockers’ deserved victory in the Sportpesa Premier League match at the Mbaraki Sports Club.

Bandari got onto the field in high spirits, with twin strikers George Abege and Shaban Kenga giving good account of themselves at the front line.

In the opening 20 minutes, both teams had few scoring chances, with Homeboyz goalkeeper Michael Wanyika saving two goal-bound shots from overlapping defenders Duncan Otewa and Mohammed Shariff.

Homeboyz’s chance of scoring came in the 38th minute through Martin Imbalambala, but his shot missed the target by inches.

As the clocked ticked to half time, Mang’oli and Abege raided the Homeboyz defence but could not score. The first half ended in a barren draw.

The dockers started the match with a single point after they drew 2-2 with City Stars last Thursday in Nairobi while Homeboyz won their opening match 2-1 against Western Stima.

Mang’oli put Bandari ahead in the 56th minute, after a well-worked move initiated by Kenga. Second half-substitute Lavatsa scored his first goal for his new club in the 69th minute.

Coach Twahir Muhiddin benched David Kingatua, Kenga and Abege for Lavatsa, Dan Sserenkuma and Masoud Juma respectively. Homeboyz rested Ali Bai for Jeremiah Wanjala.

In the dying minutes, Andrew Murunga made some daring forays for Homeboyz but solid defence manned by Felly Mulumba and Otewa kept him at bay.
