Jose Mourinho is ready to press ahead with a move for £15million-rated Ghana left-back Abdul Baba Rahman despite interest from Arsenal and Manchester City.

Chelsea boss Mourinho has a keen interest in the speedy 20-year-old, who impressed for German club Augsburg last season.

Baba Rahman already has 11 caps for his country.

Filipe Luis, bought to succeed Ashley Cole at left-back last summer, made just nine Premier League starts after arriving for £16million from Atletico Madrid last July.

The 29-year-old has failed to dislodge Cesar Azpilicueta and has admitted he faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

Baba Rahman was a key man for Augsburg last season as the club clinched a first-ever European slot and ended the campaign fifth in the Bundesliga table.

He is now understood to be considering his future, with Premier League champions Chelsea and Italian counterparts Juventus both circling.

The left-back is keen to ensure that, should he move, it is to a club where he would continue to play regularly.

He would jump at the chance to follow in the footsteps of Ghana legend Michael Essien at Stamford Bridge.

But is also aware that Christian Atsu, one of his friends, has been farmed out on two season-long loans, first to Vitesse Arnhem and then to Everton, since signing for Chelsea from Porto in summer 2013.
