A Manchester United supporters' group desperate for Cristiano Ronaldo to return to Old Trafford have flown a banner over Villarreal's E Madrigal stadium as he starred for Real Madrid.

The banner, flown by a light aircraft, read "COME HOME RONALDO - UNITED REEL."

United Reel, a Red Devils fans group which has members from all over the world, called for donations to make the fly-by possible, which occurred just 15 minutes into the La Liga fixture between Villarreal and Real Madrid on Saturday afternoon.

In a Twitter plea, United Reel said: "We are all united by our love for Cristiano both as a player and as a person. We stand united in our views and will not stop until we BRING RONALDO HOME!"

Rumours have been rife that the Portuguese international could move back to the Premier League, despite leaving the Red Devils for Real back in 2009.

Recent reports suggest that the winger could look to leave the Spanish giants in the near future, following other big names like Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso out of the Bernabeu.
