K’ogallo, Ulinzi tie marred by poor officiating

Referee Isaac Ochieng messed the Tusker Premier League match between champions Gor Mahia and ulinzi Stars with unwarranted officiating which left both coaches not contented with his work in a tie that ended in a barren draw at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru yesterday.

The referee penalised Gor’s Dan Ssekunruma three times on obvious chances that could have changed the match tempo. He also penalised the home team on crucial fouls.

Ochieng denied Gor what looked like a ‘genuine’ penalty in the 72nd minute after one of Ulinzi defenders handled in the box, infuriating their fans forcing security men to form a wall around the four match officials after the match to save them from angry fans who were baying for their blood.

Ulinzi tactician Salim Ali also confirmed the referee was not at hisbest but complained of rued chances that could have made a difference.

“These are anomalies we have been complaining about since the start of the season and Football Kenya Federation and the Kenya Premier League Company have done nothing about.

 Otherwise, we could have won the match had we used our chances well,” said Ali.
