Over 65,000 Arsenal fans were fooled into following a fake Twitter account for Dennis Bergkamp with even the club’s official account falling for the prank.

The account @DBergkamp1969 was set up over the weekend and was followed by thousands who believed the former Holland and Gunners legend had finally joined the social-networking site.

Former Holland and Manchester United goal keeper Edwin van der Sar and the official Ajax Twitter feed – where Bergkamp is working as a coach – both confirmed the account to be genuine.
