Experience the essence of a traditional American breakfast with this delicious recipe for Classic American Pancakes with rich maple syrup.

Often served in stacks, the golden-brown slices are not only a treat for the taste buds, but also carry a comforting nostalgia that transcends generations.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Cooking spray or additional butter for greasing the pan

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. This dry mix forms the foundation for the perfect pancake texture.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then add the buttermilk, regular milk, and melted butter. Whisk the wet ingredients until well combined, creating a smooth and creamy liquid mixture.

Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Gently fold the mixture together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as a few lumps are perfectly normal and contribute to the fluffiness of the pancakes.

Heat a griddle or non-stick pan over medium heat. Lightly grease with cooking spray or a small amount of butter.

Pour 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the hot griddle. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes per side.

Stack the freshly cooked pancakes on a plate and generously drizzle with pure maple syrup. The combination of the soft, fluffy pancakes and the sweet, amber-hued syrup creates a breakfast experience that is simply irresistible.

Customize your pancakes with additional toppings such as fresh berries, sliced bananas, or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra touch of indulgence. Enjoy!
