Today we make deep-fried octopus the Swahili way.

Ingredients:

1kg octopus meat (yanagidako), cleaned

2 cups of water

1 tablespoon garlic ginger mince

Salt to taste

Juice of 2 limes

Oil

Method:

Wash and clean the octopus well, removing all the dirt and ink from it.

Place the octopus in a pressure cooker and pour in the water.

Cook for about 25 minutes or until the octopus is soft.

Remove from the cooker and cut the octopus into strips.

Marinate it with the garlic ginger mince, lime juice and salt.

Deep fry in a wok or karai until it's crispy on the outside.

Serve with slices of lime. Enjoy!
