Kenyan sportswear brand Enda yesterday announced that it is the official sponsor of the National Olympic teams of Comoros, Djobouti and Gabon.

Enda unveiled the designs for the teams on it's social media pages to positive reviews.

"Exciting news! Enda is officially sponsoring the National Olympic Committees of Comoros, Gabon and the Judo Federation of Djibouti for Paris 2024! As Africa's premier sportswear brand, we're proud to bring the spirit of African excellence to the global stage."

The teams will be dressed in Enda shoes, apparel and gear while Kenya on the other hand, will be dressed by Nike and, this was a talking point for Kenyans on X who felt there should be a bit more national pride in a Kenyan sports brand.

"This us a kenyan brand that dressed the Comoros olympics team ... alafu huku tuvaa nguo za ruracio" commented @kijo_carol

Other Kenyans on X, tagged the Kenyan Olympics team @Olympics.ke, while lamenting that Kenyans should be wearing home grown brands instead of fake Nikes.

Enda sportwear is a brand started in 2016 by Navalayo Osembo and Weldon Kennedy after rounds of crowdfunding that saw 1000 contribute to the making of its first shoesm the Iten.

Recently, Team Kenya's Olympic ceremony outifts were trashed for not fitting the bill when it came to style and innovation. The apparel which consosted of branded t-shirts and maasai shukas was criticised for not thinking outside of the box.

Former Olympic rugby player Dennis Ombachi also critiques the apparel, describing them as demaning and mediocre.

"When you get to the Olympics and see how other countries are dressed you feel like crying. I always say exporting our culture is not the issue, how we package it is what will sell." he said on an X repost.

Over 120 Kenyan designers had submitted designs to the Ministry of Sports before the final design was chosen.
