Most parts of the country are likely to receive rainfall in the next week, the Kenya Meteorological Department has said.

In a weekly update for March 5 to 11, Kenya MET predicted that heavy rains will pound parts of Western Kenya, South Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Central Highlands, South-eastern lowlands, Coast, and North-western regions.

Daytime temperatures are expected to rise above 30 degrees Celsius in parts of Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, and Garissa.

Parts of Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Kajiado, Makueni, Kitui, Laikipia, Baringo, West Pokot, Bungoma, Kakamega, Busia will also experience the high daytime temperatures (30C).

However, parts of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western regions will experience high nighttime temperatures of above 20C.

The update is similar to previous weather outlooks that indicated ongoing rains in several parts of the country.

Kenya MET Director David Gikungu in a February update predicted continuous rainfall in most parts of the country until June 2024.
