The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted a decline in the level of rainfall in several parts of the country over the next week.

In a weekly forecast for December 28 to January 1, Kenya MET's Bernard Chanzu noted that rain is expected to continue over parts of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, Northeastern, South Eastern, and Coast regions.

"Rainfall is expected to continue over a few areas in the southern half of the country spreading to several areas from Saturday," the weatherman said.

The forecast indicates that most parts of North Eastern Kenya are likely to be dry while a few areas are expected to receive rainfall from Friday night.

Parts of Turkana and Samburu counties will likely receive little showers and thunderstorms as the temperature level ranges from 35 to 37C.

"Strong south-easterly winds of more than 25 Knots(12.5m/s) are expected over parts of Turkana and Marsabit counties."

Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties are likely to receive continuous little rainfall over a few places throughout the week.

In line with the report, several parts of the country have experienced reduced rainfall despite the earlier predictions of continuous El Nino rains into 2024.
