Oga Obinna blasts Kenyans for sudden interest in Naiboi after music hiatus

Comedian Oga Obinna has called out Kenyans for their sudden interest in singer Naiboi's songs, yet they showed him no support during his music days.

Sharing his two cents on his social media page, the social media influencer began by describing Naiboi as a talented producer, composer, writer, musician, and a rapper who had mastered his art in music but was let down by Kenyans.

"I've seen the story about Naiboi. People are asking, 'Where is Naiboi? He was fire,' and all that. That is true, Naiboi is amazing-producer, composer, writer, musician, all of them, even a rapper. But Kenyans are traitors," he started.

Obinna went on to brand Kenyans as traitors for requesting the singer to make a music comeback when, in reality, they never supported his craft when he wholeheartedly put his efforts into it.

"Now you are looking for Naiboi because he is no longer there. When he was there, were you guys paying attention to what he was doing? That guy was doing amazing things, and all you could do is give him a couple of views here and there, a couple of shows here and there, and then ignore. So, he decided to do other things with his life, and now everybody is like, 'Where is Naiboi?'" he continued.

Using thriving celebrities as examples, Obinna questioned netizens on whether they are openly appreciating their various crafts before they retire from their roles.

"He will be back, yes, but the ones who are there, are you giving them the respect, the flowers, and the support they need because they are fire? We have a lot of fire musicians who are still there, and even comedians and dancers and footballers and athletes, and all of them-are you celebrating them now, or will you wait until they are gone so that you can start looking back and saying how that individual used to be good? Kenyans are traitors, and that's the way you are acting. If he comes back, guys, welcome him the way you are pretending you do," he concluded.

Venting in a separate video, the comedian expressed his disappointment in how Kenyans selectively take in information. Referring to an interview he had with singer Otile Brown where they compared East African music to the global market, Obinna says the comment section was filled with nothing but negativity.

"When you check the comments that people are putting through, you ask yourself, are these people watching this interview, are they listening to understand or are they listening to respond, and you come to the conclusion that most Kenyans are reactive. They never consume and understand and digest something," he said.

Otile, on his end, too upheld his sentiments, explaining that he did not target a particular individual but East Africa as a whole.

"I see some of y'all vexing; what are y'all vexing for? I said what I said, and I am standing on it. My message was clear. Some blogs have twisted it and made it seem like I was talking about someone specific, but that is not the case. You can go listen to the interview; it's an issue I have highlighted so that I can let you guys know what is happening in the industry, so I don't care how you felt," said Otile.
