Mount Kenya University has unveiled an ambitious plan to send more than 5000 graduates to Germany.

The first cohort of five nursing apprentices will travel on Tuesday.

"The beneficiaries of the project have received full sponsorship from German accredited partner hospitals with work permits, Visa, work contracts and air- tickets to commence their paid apprenticeship," the university said on its X handle.

The oversee programme is part of a working agreement reached between President William Ruto and Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor of Germany in June 2023 to offer Kenyans 250,000 job opportunities to Kenyans.

"In supporting the president's initiative Mount Kenya University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, Germany to develop strategies to actualise the President's agenda of creating job opportunities," said MKU.
