Kisii University makes key management changes

The Kisii University Council has announced top management changes.
In an internal memo signed by Vice Chancellor Nathan Ogechi on Tuesday, the Council effected three key changes in its management.
Prof Charles Okioga has been appointed Registrar Administration Human Resource and Central Service replacing Rose Ogata.
Before his appointment, Prof Okioga was Senior Lecturer at the School of Business and Economics at the university.
He is among three authors who published a paper on; "Quality Issues in the Expansion of University Education in Kenya, the Human Resource Challenges and Opportunities."
The paper gives analysis of the quality issues in the expansion of university education in Kenya examining the human resource challenges and opportunities.
It examines a variety of factors that impact the nature, content, and mode of delivery of the teaching.
Prof Christopher Ngacho becomes the new Registrar Research, Innovation and Resource Mobilisation. He replaces Dr Evans Kenanda.
He joined the university in 2001 teaching Management Mathematics, Business Statistics and Project Management.
Prof Ngacho is the current Dean Faculty of Commerce.
Prof Kennedy Getange takes over as Registrar Academic Affairs replacing Dr Joash Kerongo in the changes that took effect yesterday.
Prof Ogechi said the changes were made through the 26th Special Full Council Meeting of the university on January 9.
"The council resolved that the three be appointed on acting capacity," reads the letter in part.
Upon taking over office last year, Prof Ogechi told the media that the university has 318 teaching staff, with 64 under tutorial. In total, university has 635 staff.
Among the teaching staff, three are full professors and 14 associate professors, cutting across the university's main campus and three satellite campuses in Kericho, Migori and Eldoret.
"We are looking at the expansion plan. The university can only attract more funding if we increase the number of full professors who will be undertaking research in different fields. The institution is set to roll out a plan on how to support our associate Professors," said Prof Ogechi.
Vice Chancellor said the university needs to retain the best scholars through implementing a staff development plan.
"My vision is to have a world-class university and have the best programmes. Universities across the globe have been undergoing major challenges, including financial constraints. We have 30 degrees being reviewed," he said.
