West Mugirango MP Steve Mogaka has protested the manner in which the Kenya National Examination Council is conducting the exercise in Nyamira County.

Mogaka who addressed Journalists in Parliament buildings said that the best-performing schools in the county have been targeted by people who claim to be examination officials who have been conducting a militarized operation in the schools.

He raised concerns that the students in secondary schools in the county cannot be frisked and found not having materials not allowed in exam rooms only to be found with foreign materials later in the exam room wondering where they were coming from saying there was a likelihood of sabotage.

"It is very unfair for students to be picked from the exam centres and taken to an unknown destination on the pretext that they are being frisked and brought back to do their exams terming it a violation of their rights and would traumatise them leading to them performing poorly," said Mogaka.

The MP said that those tasked with running the examination should act responsibly since examinations are not about competition but ensuring that children are able to prove their understanding of what they learnt.

He said that the arbitrary removal of examination centre managers citing the case of Nyambaria National School shows that a war is being waged against the institution which led in the country during last year's KCSE exam.

Mogaka said that it was wrong to remove an examination centre especially when he is the Principal of the school citing the case of Nyambaria saying such dramas will serve as a psychological war on students.

"I would like to know why Directorate of Criminal examination officers are found in examination centres in Nyamira County there are no cases reported, that are intimidating candidates doing the examination," said Mogaka
