Knec boss appointed to head Africa exam body

Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) chief executive ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001479679/kenya-to-host-conference-of-africa-examination-bodies">David Njengere< has been appointed president of the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA).

Dr Njengere takes over from Patrick Areghan, who doubles as the CEO of the West African Examinations Council in Nigeria, for a one-year term.

Dr Njengere was crowned president of the body at the closing of the 39th annual AEAA conference on Friday.

He takes over the leadership of the Association of Educational Assessment in Africa after serving as its vice president for one year.

Previously, Dr Njengere served as vice president of the AEAA and Education advisor to the cabinet secretary in the Ministry of Education.

Here, he provided professional advisory on curriculum reforms, as well as policies and strategies for effective curriculum reforms implementation.

Other functions included offering technical support to Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, Kenya National Examinations Council, Teachers Service Commission, Quality Assurance and any other agency involved in the curriculum reforms.

Dr Njengere started his illustrious Education career as a teacher of English, for nine years between 1990 and 1999 in Moi Girls, Mandera, and Nkuene Secondary School.

After nine years as a classroom teacher, he moved up the ladder and joined the ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/education/article/2001478709/new-knec-grading-system-subjects-cluster-to-boost-kcse-final-scores">Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD<), as the pioneer head of the speech communication disorders section.

He moved up the ladder to Deputy Director, Test Development at Knec, where he coordinated development of primary and secondary teacher education, and special needs examinations.

He holds a Bachelor of Education in English and Literature and Master of Philosophy in English from the Moi University.

In 2015, he earned his PhD in Education from Moi University, as well as a Hubert H. Humphrey fellowship in Education Policy and Planning, Curriculum and Research.
