Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang has lauded Standard Group PLC and Global Peace Foundation Kenya for their efforts in the education sector.

The PS said the various initiatives by the two had contributed hugely to transforming education and improving its quality.

"I am impressed by your dedication and commitment in the role you have continued to play in transforming education in Kenya," Kipsang said in a speech read on his behalf by William Sugut, Director of Education Reforms and Junior Secondary Education Programmes, during the second edition of the Transforming Education Summit.

The Transforming Education Summit is an interactive platform by the Global Peace Foundation Kenya and its partners. It aims to bring together education stakeholders in promoting quality education through holistic development of students and educators in character, relationships, and skills.

The summit also calls for the application of knowledge to build a peaceful and sustainable future to respond to the global crisis in education.

The event held in Nairobi yesterday was organised by the Global Peace Foundation Kenya in collaboration with the Standard Group PLC.

The Oracle Academy, Kesho Kenya, Unicaf, Kenya EdTech East Africa, World Vision Kenya, Bridge International Academies, and I Choose Life-Africa were part of the organisers.

"I take cognizance of their innovative educational programmes such as the Great Places to School initiative, Transforming Education Initiative, Character and Creativity Initiative and the LEAP Hubs initiatives,'' he said.

These programmes, he said, are critical in realising education outcomes such as learning, transition and sustainability.

"Global Peace Foundation Kenya's commitment to education as a tool for peacebuilding demonstrates that education remains the most powerful weapon for sustainable peace and development,'' added Kipsang.

Through these innovative approaches, he said he was informed that the Global Peace Foundation Kenya has directly impacted more than 50,000 learners from 50 schools across the 47 counties.
