As The Standard's Newspaper in Education (NIE) continue to grow in leaps and bounds, in the same strength, it continues to melt the hearts of many learners across the country.

On Tuesday, June 20, The Standard Group Ltd team was welcomed by over the moon learners at Montgomery School Nairobi in Embakasi East.

The school director Francis Ingoke was thrilled by the launch of NIE partnership with the institution.

"We are privileged to have this partnership that will go a long way in nurturing our learners to have a good command of English and Swahili at an early age," Ingoke said.

He hailed the programme noting that it provides content that shapes the future of the next generation.

NIE is an initiative by The Standard seeking to develop a reading culture as well as instil writing skills in young learners through publishing academic content.

The programme is exclusively featured on The Standard Newspaper every Tuesday.

"This initiative offers an opportunity for learners to better their reading skills and promote a reading culture for the society, because, without readers, even our papers have no audience," Lilian Njeri, The Standard marketing officer said during the launch of the initiative.

The school headmistress Esther Agoi challenged parents to monitor their kids' academic performance and engage them in reading while at home.

According to Montgomery learners, the newspapers will help them enhance their reading skills and keep them informed on various issues even beyond classroom.

"Standard newspapers will help us do well in languages, we thank The Standard and KTN News," Samuela Sopiata, a learner at Montgomery stated.

Started as a kindergarten in 2012 currently hosting more than 230 pupils, Montgomery prides itself in offering quality CBC curriculum and exclusive lessons of French and German-foreign languages in which we were entertained.

Montgomery is expecting to have the pioneer class sit their national standard eight exams this year.
