We will support you, teachers tell Ruto on election

Teachers unions have congratulated Deputy President William Ruto on his win in the elections.

The Kenya National Union of Teachers and Kenya Union of Post Primary Education have sent messages of congratulation to Ruto following his declaration as the president-elect.

Knut Secretary General, Collins Oyuu, said the teachers union has endorsed Ruto in his election.

"On behalf of the Knut National Steering, National Executive Council, the 47 Knut County leadership, the 110 branches of Knut and all the teachers of Kenya to congratulate you on your win," said Oyuu.

Oyuu said the president-elect has demonstrated statesmanship in his acceptance speech and this has endeared him and won the hearts of teachers.

"As the Kenyan teachers, we look forward to seeing a united nation in your hands and a stronger administration that will prioritise education, the future of our children and proper management of teachers' labour matters," Oyuu added.

Kuppet Secretary Akelo Misori also congratulated Ruto and affirm his union's commitment to the government in the interest of Kenyan teachers and the education sector.
