Vice president Rossen Dimitrov sent the woman's colleagues a photo of her slumped on the floor, saying he was 'ashamed and disgusted'

For most people, the boss seeing you drunk would be punishment enough.

Not for this woman - whose end to a night out was shared with all her colleagues by a top executive.

The Qatar Airways cabin crew member fell asleep next to a door of staff accommodation and had to be carried upstairs by co-workers.

But instead of shrugging the incident off the next morning, she was horrified when a photo of her nap made it into the hands of Senior Vice President Rossen Dimitrov.

He put it in an e-mail to all the airline's cabin crew members accompanied by a stern warning on Sunday afternoon.

"Attached, please see a photo of a CSD who had returned heavily intoxicated to her accommodation," his e-mail began.

"She was dropped off at the entrance of her building and left there sleeping until other crew members found her and carried her up to her apartment.

"I am so ashamed and disturbed by this behaviour displayed by a tenured member of our team, an adult who had been with the company for over 9 years.

"How can we change rules when we do not behave as mature individuals.

"I am very disappointed."

The e-mail was leaked to the media the next day and has now made its way across the world.

Qatar Airways has said the e-mail was genuine and staff have to respect the cultural values of the Middle Eastern country where the firm is based.

Drinking by foreigners is frowned on in Qatar, a conservative Islamic nation.

It is also illegal to import drugs, alcohol, pornography, pork products and religious books - and tourists have their luggage scanned in the arrivals hall.
