Ten killed in a road accident in Naivasha

At least nine people have been reported dead after a trailer rammed into a matatu they were traveling in at the VIP area in Naivasha along Mai Mahiu-Nairobi road, Nakuru county.

Eight others were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to a police report, the trailer heading toward Mai Mahiu direction from Nairobi lost control and rammed into the rear of the matatu which was heading in the same direction.

A trailer parked off the road and another car were also hit.

"The incident occurred today at about 12:10 pm at the Vip area along Maai Mahiu -Nairobi road. As a result, five female adults, three male adults, and one female juvenile were fatally injured. Three male adults and five female adults were seriously injured all admitted at Auckland hospital," read the police report.

Bodies of the deceased were taken to Umma Funeral Home awaiting identification and postmortem.
