As the festive season gets underway, two tournaments are still left on card in the Kenya Polo Association (KPA)'s calendar of events with the penultimate one starting on Saturday.

The last two tournaments in the calendar are the Jamhuri Championships and the Christmas Cup, which have always had subsidiary competitions for the past decade will be held at Manyatta Polo Club in Gilgil.

The three-day-Jamhuri Championships runs up-to Monday.

As they get ready for it, all players drawn from the four clubs in the republic are expected to take part in the three-day polo extravaganza.

By last evening, organisers had not released the team lists and composition of teams' handicaps on who to play from the preliminaries to the finals.

However, all these are expected to be released this afternoon.

Organisers hope it will not be affected by the unpredictable climatic conditions, which have resulted in heavy downpour in different parts of the country.

Polo is never played on slippery pitches and therefore a number of players pray for heaven not to open up.

"We'll be ready to give our best again in different capacities but we hope for the best," said Amani Nzomo who is currently in a form of his life.
