Kisumu High Court has sentenced two suspects linked to the murder of retired Justice Effie Owour's farm manager in Muhoroni to life.

Isaac Kiptoo Rono and Julius Kipyegon have been sentenced by Justice Helen Aburiri after being found guilty of murdering George Anyango alias Bengo who was killed in November 2018 at the said farm.

According to court documents, the two who were armed with machetes, ambushed and attacked the late while at his boss's farm before slitting his throat.

During the attack, the Judge's son Paul Owour was also attacked but narrowly survived after being rushed to hospital by a good samaritan.

"Paul Owuor, a licensed firearm holder and who had accompanied Bengo to the farm, fired in the air to repulse the attackers, but his firearm developed a stoppage and was equally attacked," Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said on its X platform.

The two suspects were also charged separately for attempted murder after Paul testified how he survived a deep cut on his belly during the attack before being rescued to hospital by a tractor driver.
