The Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases has denied any raid stating that the officers were just relaxing at the stadium after patrols.

Kisii Governor Simba Arati is crying foul after officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) surrounded his office at Gusii Stadium on Monday, 30, October, 2023.

According to the governor, the officer had also surrounded the Ajiry Centre (within the stadium) which is used by the County government of Kisii for Information and Communication and Technology training.

Addressing the press on Monday afternoon, Arati alleged that he had been informed that the police were also planning to raid his Motonto home in Bobasi Constituency and office at night while pointing an accusing finger at his political rivals.

"I have been reliably informed of the planned raid, please don't come to my Motonto residence at night, come in the daytime, I don't want you to come and plant guns in my house so that you can begin incriminating me," Arati said.

The county boss also claims that there are plans by powerful people in the Kisii region to impeach him.

"We know what they are planning, I have heard rumors that the local Members of the County Assembly will receive Sh500,000 each to impeach me. This war is going to be long," Arati told reporters.

There has been an escalating political wrangle between Arati and the National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro with the latter vowing to ensure more police deployment in Kisii to tame what he alleged to be hooliganism.

Our security sources have revealed that police officers from Kisumu have been dispatched to Kisii to crack down on bodaboda riders who have been blamed for escalating criminal activities in the area.

On his part, the Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases denied a raid on the governor's adding that the GSU officers were patrolling area and decided to relax at the stadium.
