Meru leaders mourn former North Imenti MP Silas Muriuki

Meru political leaders have mourned the late former North Imenti MP Silas Muriuki.
Reports indicate that the former lawmaker died aged 74 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Nairobi, His illness has not yet been disclosed.
Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mithika Linturi said the sudden death of Muriuki is a big loss to his close people.
"I've received with sadness the news of the demise of my former colleague in the National Assembly and former North Imenti MP Hon Silas Muriuki who passed on today. The passing on of Hon. Muriuki is a big loss not only to his family, relatives, and close friends but also to the people of North Imenti and the nation which he served diligently. May God give the family strength and fortitude at this moment of mourning. May his soul rest in eternal peace." Linturi said in a tweet on Wednesday evening.
Former Meru Governor and Agriculture CS Peter Munya has also mourned the departed MP, as an 'astute leader in the community who always championed community interests'.

"I am deeply saddened by the sad news of the passing on of my friend former North Imenti M.P Hon. Silas Muriuki Ruteere. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mheshimiwa Muriuki. He was an astute leader in the community who always championed community interests." Munya also tweeted.
He worked as a special needs teacher before becoming an MP.
He lost the North Imenti seat in the 2013 elections r North Imenti MP to Dawood Abdul Rahim, who is currently serving his third term.
He did not run for the 2022 General Election.
