Governor Anyang Nyong'o leads Azimio protests in Kisumu

Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong'o on Monday, March 27, led Azimio supporters in Kisumu for a protest march against the high cost of living.
Nyong'o made a stop at Nyamasaria in Kisumu to address the demonstrators before proceeding with the mass action.
Chaos was reported in some parts of Kisumu town after supports barricaded the roads grounding operations.
Police were forced to lob teargas to disperse protesters who retaliated by hurling stones at security officials.
At the same time, tension was building in Homa Bay town as police teargassed youths who were grouping for demonstrations.

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya leader Raila Odinga has vowed not to back down until the government meets his demands, which include lowering the cost of living, opening Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers, and stopping the process of appointing new IEBC commissioners.
Police Inspector-General Japhet Koome has since declared the protests illegal, promising to deal with those who break the law.
