Embu Stadium construction to take less than five months, PS Omollo

Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo has said that the 20,000-capacity stadium at the ASK showground at Njukiiri in Embu will be built in the next four and a half months.

The stadium has been lined up to host the Madaraka Day celebrations and a Sports City is expected to be built from scratch in the showground.

Dr Omollo who led a team from various state departments on an inspection tour of the grounds said contractors will be compelled to work day and night to beat the tight deadlines.

Among those who accompanied him are Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire and the Principal Secretaries for Defence, Roads, ICT, Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Environment, and Culture.

Eastern Regional Commissioner Paul Rotich was also in the entourage that toured his official residence that is expected to host the Madaraka Day Luncheon.

PS Omollo told Journalists that the total costs will be determined after a closed door meeting held after the tour.

"I cannot quantify the costs but the work has already commenced which is at the documentation stage," he said.

Omollo added that the theme would be Universal Health Care as announced by President William Ruto during the 2022 Jamuhuri day celebrations.

Omollo expects the completed works to serve as an excellent example of what can be achieved when National and County governments work together.

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire said the Sport City will bring several opportunities to the residents. "we are extremely proud to have been selected to host the event".

Local leaders present were optimistic that the Sports city will create up to 5,000 employment opportunities while vowing to support the National government.

"I urge the local youth to present themselves to participate in various projects that will take place," said Gitonga Mukunji, Manyatta MP.
