Sikri Technical and Vocational College for the Blind and Deaf are Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) national men's football champions (special category).

Sikri beat St. Joseph Nyang'oma Technical for the Deaf 4-3 on penalties after a barren draw in yesterday's final match at Meru Teachers Training College in Meru County.

The games are returning after a two-year absence following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

It was the type of performance Sikri coach Sheila Kasoa expected following their good preparation. "I attribute this success to hard work, dedication and early preparation of the team. I'm confident our volleyball team will take a leaf from the football team," said Kasoa.

Kisiwa Technical Training Institute will be hoping to lift the men's handball title when they face Kisumu National Polytechnic in today's final.

Kisiwa, coached by Sally Wafula, beat a resilient Bondo Technical Training Institute 22-18 in the semifinals yesterday.

Kisumu overcame Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology 28-21 in the other semis.

On their way to the last four, Kisiwa silenced Masai Technical Training Institute 19-14.

"Though the competition is quite stiff, I believe the boys have what it takes to win the trophy," said Wafula.

In ladies' basketball, Friends College Kaimosi have qualified for the semifinals after beating Ramogi Institute of Science and Technology (RIAT) 22-17 in the quarters yesterday.

Even as the games enter final stage today, KATTI Sports and Recreation national chairman David Mwangi says fielding of ineligible players has been their biggest challenge.
