Police on Thursday raided the Lurambi home of outgoing Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala.
It remains unclear what occasioned the raid, though sources told The Standard that an active court case led to his pursuit.
The officers, drawn from Kakamega Central Police Station, arrived at Malala's home located in Milimani, Lurambi Constituency at 1pm on Thursday.
The officers, at least ten in number, could be seen destroying the padlock of Malala's main gate using a bolt cutter.
They, thereafter, gained access into his compound, where they embarked on a spirited search for the outgoing lawmaker.

It remains unclear whether Malala was inside the house during the raid.
What is puzzling, is that his Facebook page broadcast the happenings live.
"I understand that he is being sought over chaos witnessed during a past by-election in Matungu Sub-County," a police source told The Standard.
Cleophas Malala's lawyer Charles Malala said that the police officers did not produce proof of a warrant of arrest.
"We don't know why they are pursuing him," said Charles.
Malala lost the August 29 Kakamega gubernatorial elections to ODM candidate Fernandes Barasa, the former boss of KETRACO.
Malala, who ran on Amani National Congress (ANC) Party ticket, got 159,508 votes while Barasa got 192,929.
